Usually with our R290 refrigerant, charging can be done by bringing the low side pressure up to a point of about 10 pounds below the outside air temperature. At 80 Degrees F. bring the pressure up to approximately 70 lbs. This works quite well up to about 85 degrees.

Zeotropic mixtures experience temperature glide and should be charged as a liquid. Because zeotropes have different properties than pure fluids, they have applications in distillation, cleaning, and refrigeration. If they are being used in refrigeration they are given numbers in the 400s.
Can you charge refrigerant through the high side?
Note that once you start the system running you will not be able to charge on the high side because the head pressure out of the compressor will be higher than the evaporation pressure in the canister - it would push refrigerant back into the canister.
